Freezing rain is currently creating icy conditions in portions of Massachusetts as snow, sleet and freezing rain fall in northern New England. Maine is expected to see the the heaviest snowfall through Tuesday morning, where snowfall rates of an inch per hour are possible.

Additionally, locally heavy snow will continue in parts of the Great Lakes and upper Midwest through Tuesday morning. Rain also changed to snow in southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois and portions of Indiana, including the Chicago and Milwaukee metro areas early Tuesday.

Dangerous travel conditions are likely in all of the areas mentioned above.

Although the United States Postal Service is not yet reporting any post office closures, logistics partners are reporting anticipated delays of 24 – 48 hours in the Upper Plains, Midwest and northern New England areas.
