As of October 2, 2017, the United States Postal Service is no longer reporting any service alerts for this incident.

 

Tropical Storm Hermine has impacted Postal Service retail and delivery service operations in parts of several states, from Florida to Virginia. Interruptions to North Carolina and Virginia have resumed.

 

Contingency plans remain in place to ensure the safety of employees and minimize disruptions to service. While every attempt will be made to make delivery, customers may experience service delays and impacts to retail operations. Updates will be posted as they become available.

Operations That Have Resumed

Florida

As of October 2, 2017:

Offices that previously had alternate Post Office information:
-Suwanee Post Office, 32692 - Effective Sept. 14, a mobile retail unit is in the Post Office parking lot. [Operations temporarily relocated to Old Town Post Office, located at 26164 SE Hwy 19, Old Town, 32680. prior to Sept. 14]
-Cedar Key Post Office, 32625
 - Retail operations: A mobile unit is now located in the parking lot of the Cedar Key Post Office, located at 512 2nd St., Cedar Kay, 32625. Services offered are stamp sales, PO Box mail pickup, and carrier left notice pickup.
-DDU/Drop shipment operations: Operations temporarily relocated to Chiefland Post Office, located at 222 W Park Ave, Chiefland, 32626.
-Homosassa Post Office, 34487 - Operations temporarily relocated to Homosassa Springs Post Office, located at 4610 S Suncoast Blvd, Homosassa, 34446.

-St. Marks Post Office, 32355 - Flooding from Hurricane Hermine forced the closure of the St. Marks Post Office at 779 Port Leon Dr., St. Marks, FL 32355. Effective Sept. 16, the office is reopened, resuming normal operations.

Service Interruptions Expected As Storms Approaches

Tropical Storm Hermine has turned toward Florida and will deliver heavy rain, gusty winds, flooding and the risk of tornadoes into Friday. The storm is expected to make landfall north of Tampa late Thursday night into Friday morning. According to AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski, Hermine could become a hurricane before it makes landfall.

The United States Postal Service has contingency plans in place to ensure the safety of employees and minimize impacts to service. While every attempt will be made to make delivery, customers may experience service delays and impacts to retail operations.

Although there are currently no service impacts to that region, we will continue to update you as details become available.
